The Desktop Zen Garden
Take a break!
Rake, arrange, and contemplate your miniature
Desktop Zen Garden.
| Similar to the desktop sand Zen gardens you've seen on shows and
movies like"Aly McBeal"! Patterned after Japanese style rock gardens
these handmade sculpture gardens come with a stoneware (pictured) or porcelain
9" x 2" tray, fine limestone sand, a teak, brass, and red dogwood
rake, and each has a unique selection of items for arranging! |
The soothing, calming effects of basic artistic tasks are well known. The
whole field of "Sand Play" professional therapy was developed
from this concept. With this beautiful display, you can experience both
the depth of a simple arrangement,... and the joy and relaxation of designing
it! Remove all the items from the tray and find serenity raking patterns
in the fine sand. I exhibit these in art fairs and nearly every person is
compelled to play, raking the sand. Once a satisfying pattern is developed
in the sand, you arrange the 4-6 items. Whether symmetrically, randomly,
artistically, or following your whims, the resulting display is captivating! |
I started making these just this spring, and they have become one
of the most popular items I sell! They are perfect for an office, family
room (add a little scent for cat repellent), waiting room (no one will touch
the magazines!), or therapeutic clinic. For the person who has everything
and needs to relax and not worry about it! |
A typical assortment might include: |
a water sculpted stone
a sea shell
a mica flake
a quartz crystal
two hand sculpted clay objects: |
| |
animal totems
pyramids
goddess figures
faces
abstracts
or silly sculpture:
|
a clay dice, end of a finger, skull or bones, shark fin or other bizarre
item might be added here. |
| Requests for objects can be entered when
ordering!.....and add your own, too. |
